Highlights
-
More material
Redesigned upper links carry extra material and a larger wear radius where they grip the rope, which extends service life.
-
More torque
Longer upper links turn more torque as they engage the rope around the axles, giving a positive, consistent bite.
-
Shared load
The extra torque moves more of the friction down to the lower links, so more of the device does the work and it wears more evenly, which greatly extends its life.
-
Dual-spring top link
Two springs extend the top link's range of rotation to keep performance up, with the same spring resistance REFLEX users already know.
Product information & specifications
ISC MH285 REFLEX V2 Mechanical Hitch
For arborists and rope-access professionals who want the mid-line attachable REFLEX with a longer service life and a more consistent bite. The ISC REFLEX V2 keeps the body, frames and lower link system of the original and upgrades the parts that take the most wear: redesigned upper links, a dual-spring top link, a redesigned top axle and a more durable top plate. Certified to EN 12841:2024 Type C on 11-13mm EN 1891 Type A rope, with a 50-200kg working load limit.
Key Features & Benefits
- Redesigned upper links: additional material and a larger wear radius at the gripping surfaces for extended service life
- Longer upper links: more torque for a positive, consistent bite, with more of the friction shifted to the lower links so the device wears more evenly
- Dual-spring top link: extends the top link's range of rotation to maintain performance
- Quicker cleaning: redesigned top axle and a new cleaning hole make routine cleaning and lubrication easier
- More durable top plate: better resists accidental bending and damage
- Mid-line attachment and removable swivel eye
- Three modes of use: SRT, SRT with APEX/Wrench and Chipmunk FLEX Tether, and MRT
Why Choose the ISC REFLEX V2?
ISC is a UK-engineered brand built specifically for the height safety, rescue and rope-access sectors, with devices designed for professional rope work rather than adapted from recreational climbing kit. For the V2, ISC went back to climbers using the original REFLEX, and the brief that came back was to leave the character of the device alone. So the V2 changes are about service life, a consistent bite and easier maintenance, on the same body.
Choose the REFLEX V2 over a traditional Prusik-style hitch when you want consistent, adjustment-free friction control and need to fit the hitch at any point on the line without re-threading.
REFLEX V2 vs Original REFLEX
Certified Protection Explained
EN 12841:2024 is the current European standard for rope adjustment devices used in rope access, replacing the earlier EN 12841:2006. Type C is the descender class: a device for the working line that gives a controlled descent and holds you in position on the rope when you take your hands off. EN 1891 Type A is the standard for low-stretch kernmantle rope. The REFLEX V2 is certified on Type A rope from 11 to 13mm only, so check your climbing line carries that marking.
Pairs Well With
For SRT with added friction, ISC lists the REFLEX V2 for use with the APEX Rope Wrench and Chipmunk Flex Tether. Add a compatible carabiner for the swivel eye and a certified climbing helmet for canopy work.

Yes. ISC lists three modes of use: SRT without additional friction, SRT with the APEX/Wrench and Chipmunk FLEX Tether, and MRT.
What is a mid-line attachable hitch?
It's a hitch you can fit directly onto any point along a rope, rather than threading the full rope length through the device first.
