Storing Petrol-Driven Brushcutters

Before long-term storage, clean your brushcutter thoroughly and completely empty the fuel tank. Let the engine run on idle until it stops — this ensures the carburettor is dry and prevents stale fuel from causing blockages.

Remove dried grass and debris from the guard with a stiff brush. Clean the cutting attachment, and if you’re using a metal cutting blade, apply STIHL Multispray for corrosion protection.

Avoid leaving your brushcutter lying on the ground for long periods, as the polymer guard may deform under the machine’s weight. Store the tool so that no weight rests on the guard or cutting head to prevent damage.

Switch off the machine and remove the battery. Store the battery partly charged (two green LEDs) between -10°C and 50°C, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep the battery separate from both the brushcutter and charger.

Disconnect the mains plug of the charger and store it in a dry location (5°C–40°C). Coil the cable neatly and avoid moisture exposure.

For electric brushcutters, unplug from the mains and secure the cable around the handle. Clean the power tool thoroughly, paying attention to air intake slots and external housings.
