Hitch Climber Pulleys

A hitch climber pulley is a small, lightweight pulley used in conjunction with a friction hitch in a climbing system. Sheave Size, WLL and Rope Compatibility

The sheave diameter of a pulley should be at least three times the rope diameter for efficient load transfer and minimal rope wear - a 10mm rope requires at least a 30mm sheave. Working Load Limit (WLL) must exceed the anticipated load for the application with an appropriate safety factor - a typical safety factor for arborist rigging is 7:1 on the WLL. Always match the pulley rope groove width to the rope diameter in use - too wide a groove allows the rope to flatten and wear; too narrow creates excess friction.
