Rock Exotica Akimbo² – Next-Generation Arborist Climbing & Positioning Tool
Revolutionise your tree climbing efficiency with the Rock Exotica Akimbo², a truly unique and advanced arborist climbing tool designed for unparalleled versatility. This innovative device empowers professional arborists and tree surgeons across the UK to effortlessly ascend, descend, and position themselves on both Stationary Rope Systems (SRS/SRT) and Moving Rope Systems (MRS/DRT), all without the need for additional equipment or detaching from your harness.
The Akimbo² stands out with its remarkable adaptability. Its rope contact surfaces (Upper and Lower Bollards) are intuitively adjustable to accommodate a wide range of rope sizes, from 11.5mm to 12.7mm. This adjustment is performed without tools or disassembling components, allowing you to quickly suit your preference or adapt to different ropes. Furthermore, the Bollards can also be finely tuned to increase or decrease friction, optimising performance for changes in climber weight, environmental conditions, or to compensate for natural wear of the Akimbo's contact surfaces.
Building on the success of its predecessor, the new Akimbo² features an additional SRS tending option, enhancing its capability for single rope climbing. Modifications have also been incorporated for improved performance on rope, ensuring smoother operation and greater control. Crucially for professional longevity, the Akimbo² boasts replaceable components, extending its service life and protecting your investment.
Designed for convenience and efficiency, the Akimbo² opens easily to remove or install a rope mid-line in seconds, then compresses back into a compact form factor both on and off the rope. When climbing on stationary rope with a chest harness (SRS mode), the Akimbo² offers two auxiliary connection points. The upper connection features a wire gate for quick attachment of a non-PPE carabiner or loop of cord, while the main life-support connection point can also be used for connecting a chest harness with a non-PPE carabiner.
- Opens easily to install/remove rope mid-line, without detaching from harness.
- Accepts all arborist climbing lines from 11.5 mm to 12.7 mm (subject to user validation before climbing. See manual).
- Friction adjusts easily without tools.
- Suitable for both SRS and MRS climbing methods.
- SRS chest attachment wire gate provides quick connect/disconnect for cord or small carabiner.
- Ascend, descend and position in the canopy without changing equipment.
- Lightweight and compact.

The Rock Exotica Akimbo² is intended for experienced users and is not suitable for novice climbers. Always read the user manual thoroughly before use to ensure safe and optimal operation. This device represents the pinnacle of arboriculture climbing technology, offering unmatched flexibility, control, and performance for demanding tree work.
