The STIHL HLA 40 is a compact, lightweight and highly versatile long-reach hedge trimmer designed for maintaining tall hedges, shrubs and bushes around the garden. As the first long-reach trimmer in the AS System, it delivers excellent performance while remaining easy to handle.

Powered by the interchangeable AS 2 lithium-ion battery, the HLA 40 shares compatibility with other STIHL AS System tools including garden pruners, grass trimmers, secateurs and blowers. With a telescopic shaft extending up to 2.6 metres, plus a fully adjustable cutter bar, it's ideal for safely trimming tall hedges from ground level.

At just 3.7kg, the HLA 40 is exceptionally lightweight. The soft-grip handle, tool-free telescopic adjustment and quick-fit shoulder strap make extended work more comfortable. Laser-cut, diamond-ground blades provide clean, precise cutting, while the adjustable head allows angles from -45° to +70° for trimming the tops and sides of hedges with ease.

For transport and storage, the tool splits into two parts, reducing the length from 260cm to just 115cm. A robust tip protector safeguards the blade when working near walls or the ground.
