Working Load & Mechanical Advantage Explained

A single pulley redirects load without reducing it, while a double or compound system using two blocks can roughly halve the pull needed to move a given weight, at the cost of pulling more rope through the system. Check the working load limit of the pulley itself, not just the rope running through it, and never exceed the lowest-rated component in the whole rigging chain.
